What is Self-Talk?

We all talk to ourselves, every day, all the time, it is hard for many of us not to think inside our head and stop the inner conversation or the thought process we are having with ourselves. Self-Talk can be explained as the way we talk to ourselves, our inner voice. We might not be always aware that we are talking to ourselves, but it is definitely certain that we are.
Our inner voice connects conscious thinking with our core beliefs and attitudes and forms our specific internal dialogue inisde of our head. Self-Talk is extremely important as it has a huge influence on our feelings and on our daily actions. It can either be supportive and beneficial, motivating and positive, or it can be negative and destructive, undermining our confidence.

What are the benefits of positive Self-Talk?

The primary objective of the Self-Talk course is to give everyone the right understanding and efficient tools to be able to consciously direct your thoughts to a desired positive result or specific feeling. Furthermore, people should be able to stop the random flow of thoughts and random conversation inside their heads anytime they decide to.
We are the masters of our lives, we are in control! Your brain and your thought process should be your well-trained servants! If you mainly think in a positive way about yourself, you will feel good and optimistic most times of the day. Research shows that positive self-talk can:

  • Self Talk is the foundation of your self-identity and defines the way you interpret and create your individual reality in the world!
  • Your mind (thought process) is designed to think in concepts, theories, ideas, symbols and images.

  • All the different voices inside your head can be either your own voice or your parents, your friends, they can come from your workplace, the media, basically from anywhere.
  • The slow speed of our conscious talk (200 to 300 words per minute) compared to the immense flow and high speed of the thinking mind (our mind can process and think around 3000 concepts, thoughts and ideas per minute) makes it impossible for us to remember all our thoughts and experiences.
  • Social programming – a lot of your programming is not nearly so obvious. Most of it is much more subtle and mainly unconscious.
  • Every day, each of us receives an endless stream of data in the form of commands, directives, controls, inducements and expectations from others, the main question is how to handle this information from outside.

  • The RAS (Reticular Activating System) is a built-in mechanism to save us time while processing all data and input from the outside world
  • Your unconscious thoughts are the consequence of your internal survival mechanism (some call it SOS or Survival Optimization System), which is responsible historically for managing reactions to potential external threats
  • Level 1 – destructive Self-Talk
  • Level 2 – undecided Self-Talk
  • Level 3 – realistic Self-Talk
  • Level 4 – constructive Self-Talk
  • Level 5 – divine Self-Talk

  • Silent Self Talk – this is the Self-Talk that goes on all of the time, although we are usually not aware of it.
  • Self Speak – anything you say out loud to yourself, or to someone else about yourself, or about anything else, is a crucial and conscious part of your self-talk.
